I’m sure I am not the only one with this problem. The selection of books for grades 3-4 are a much higher reading level. I am finding our students don’t have a wider range of SSYRA books to select from. This is discouraging for the younger students. I suggest in the future having more of a 3rd grade selection of books. I would love for our students to get more involved. I would love your input on this subject.
Thank you.

At our school Diplomat Elementary- in Lee County Florida — I have created book trailers [http://leecountybooktrailers.wikispaces.com/]
for all the Grade 3-5 SSYRA books and a student blog feature is available on each book trailer page.
The book trailers have helped in motivating students to read all 15 and our school has a blog contest going — every time they blog about a SSYRA book their teacher’s name goes in raffle basket. Then we will have a drawing next week and the teacher’s name we pull will get all 15 books for their classroom.

I am so impressed with your dedication to the kids. This is a phenomenal program and I plan to get my 3-5 struggling readers involved. I know i’ts late in the school year, but I’m going to at least introduce the reading program to my kids and respond to the booik they’ve read. Thanks so much for what you do.

Book trailers is amazing. I don’t think I have the time in the day (resource wheel) to do something like this but would love to learn how it can be done.
I had trouble viewing the “how to make a trailer” link. I would love to see you offer the training at Fame or FETC. Fantastic motivators for Sunshine Books.
Thank You

I have created this blog for students (and teachers) using the grades 3-5 list. I welcome participation from any and all across the state. Note: all comments will “approved” prior to posting to avoid inappropriate posts. Thanks in advance and I hope to hear from one of your students soon.

Just a note, I am working to solve the issue of how to put up useful files on the blog. It is a work in progress… meanwhile I will temporarily post files emailed directly to me at ssyrablog@gmail.com so that you may link to them. Stay tuned!
